METROPOLISES

… are those places where social structures and development processes become manifest in a certain way. With the help of metropolises directions, forms and pace of social changes can be early and clearly identified.

The Georg-Simmel-Centre for Metropolitan Studies is an interdisciplinary centre of the Humboldt University Berlin. It brings together the numerous metropolitan competences of the single faculties and encourages multidisciplinary activities in research and teaching. Currently, there are 26 professorships engaged.
