Urban Development Patterns of the North American City

This course will conduct an examination of the North American city, to include factors such as location, shape, structure, and function. Models in urban geography, with case study examples, will be presented in terms of both theoretical and practical applications in urban planning. Additionally, geographic components of metropolitan problems relating to transportation systems, housing, ghetto formation, commercialization, urban perception, behavioral patterns, environmental impact, and possible solutions will be analyzed. This course will be taught primarily in English, requiring the student to have a satisfactory to good command of the English language.
