At the start of the 21st century Berlin has already re-established itself asone of the most intriguing and fascinating metropolises of Europe. In thenearly two decades since its reunification in 1990, the capital of Germanyhas seen enormous growth and development. As a result of the events of thelast century - for example, an almost thirty year separation - Berlin enjoyssome very unique urban development features, which are of particularinterest to researchers in the field of metropolitan studies.This course is geared toward international participants with an interest inthe current urban challenges and changes in today's Berlin and how theseissues are related to the fundamental questions of urban development.Students who participate in this Winter University will walk away with ameaningful understanding of the political, economic, and environmentalcontext of current urban changes.Lecturer: Florian Koch, Carsten HerzbergE-Mail: f.koch@gsz.hu-berlin.de
